| The SCGS Annual Member Meeting will be held Monday, October 16, 2017, 7:00 PM at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, Room #5, 6532 Phinney Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103. Free Admission! The meeting will feature guitarist Michael Nicolella presenting "Arranging Bach for Guitar." Michael will perform J.S. Bach's Chaconne from the Violin Partita in d minor BWV 1004 and discuss his approach to arranging Bach's solo cello and violin works for guitar. There will be an opportunity to engage in a brief question/ answer session with Michael after his performance and discussion.
Please also join us for the Seattle Classic Guitar Society's Annual Member Meeting. All members are invited, as well others who would like to learn more about the SCGS. Meet the SCGS board members, hear about upcoming events and future plans for the Guitar Society, share your ideas, and enjoy some refreshments! In addition, Elizabeth CD Brown will conduct a guitar orchestra read-through of a her own arrangement of a Scottish Medley (Ye Banks and Braes and Reel of Tulloch). The music can be downloaded below if you want to look at it ahead of time, but please don't worry about having it perfectly prepared! Guitar 1 usually consists of the main melody and has notes up to the tenth position. Guitar 2 has notes up to the fifth position and some natural harmonics at the 12th fret. Guitar 3 is entirely in first position and contains some pretty arpeggios.
